Our Consultant Pharmacists are given extensive, specialized clinical training. This helps make them uniquely qualified to perform Drug Regimen Reviews in Long Term Care Facilities. Many of our pharmacists hold advanced degrees and certifications, and all are members of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists. A well performed drug regimen review can provide significant benefits to not only the resident, but the nursing staff and the facility budget. For example, the identification of potentially unnecessary medications not only prevents potential adverse events from occurring, but also reduces the medication administration time burden on the nurses, and of course has a positive impact on overall pharmacy costs to the facility. Similarly, our pharmacists are expert at identifying medications which may be more appropriate for the resident in a lower dose, as well as identifying opportunities to switch medications to safer, more effective, and more cost effective alternatives. A comprehensive review of the medications is important, of course, and our dedication to insuring prompt follow-up on each and every recommendation is just one more way we work to insure quality of care and provide benefit to the residents and the facility.
